RAID Data Recovery

RAID Data Recovery

With 19 years of experience since 2007, we have achieved success in many RAID data recovery cases in Turkey.

No one can predict when data loss will occur from a RAID array, but we know the consequences of this situation.

If you suspect a RAID array failure, contact Tekniknokta experts to recover your data as quickly as possible.

Stop!

Most preventable data damage occurs within the first sixty minutes after a failure caused by human intervention. Here are a few examples:

  • Replacing wrong disks in RAID configuration.
  • Corrupting the structure by changing the wrong RAID controller.
  • Forcing disks to be online.
  • Starting with wrong disks.
  • Failed reconfiguration/Rebuild.
  • Trying to restore incomplete backups.

In all the above cases, it is important to stop the operations performed and not make any further changes to the system's original configuration and the storage devices themselves. RAID is the basis of many servers, including Network Attached Storage (NAS) and Storage Area Network (SAN). The underlying cause of a problem in RAID structures can stem from many reasons.

Most of the time, you only have one chance to get the system working again and recover the stored data. data recovery experts is very important, Tekniknokta engineers will help you determine how to proceed and inform you about possibilities, risks and next possible steps.

We serve corporate customers with our experienced RAID recovery team!

Data recovery leader Tekniknokta uses advanced techniques to repair, recover and reconstruct RAID data that has become inaccessible.

Our engineers, supported by 17 years of data recovery research, experience and development, have the knowledge and tools to recover your data. We send you our analysis results before starting the actual recovery process. We provide recovery services for most RAID types, common controllers and brand/model combinations; custom/specialized architectures are evaluated after analysis.

  • Any RAID type
  • Any RAID controller, RAID architecture created with any software
  • Any hard disk type and brand/model used in RAID

Less obvious symptoms:

  • Data corruption
  • Database corruption
  • Inability to access files
  • Logical drives not being displayed
  • Connection loss with server, volume, share, LUN
  • System speed decrease
  • System no longer being accessible

Common Causes of RAID Data Loss

Every RAID data recovery operation is different, but there are several common causes of data loss.

Mechanical Problems

RAID systems are configured to maintain service in case of individual disk failures, but when a RAID is running in degraded state, the workload on remaining disks increases and thus the risk of failure on other disks also increases. Additional drive failure can cause the RAID array to fail. We have the clean room environment and expertise required to recover data from failed drives, as well as the logical skills and tools to reconstruct and repair file systems from failed or partially reconstructed RAID systems.

Power Problems

RAID systems can be affected by power loss, power cycling and power fluctuations that cause data loss. RAID systems running in "degraded" state are particularly vulnerable, as power problems can cause unsynchronized drives to be reintegrated into the array. In these cases, our teams have the tools and expertise needed to map data and logically reconstruct RAID to extract the necessary data.

Natural Disasters

Fire, water, mud and other contaminants from natural disasters can instantly destroy a RAID. Reconstructing file systems from a RAID affected by natural disaster, cleaning drives and logically reconstructing data requires special laboratory, knowledge and tools. Tekniknokta has state-of-the-art tools and clean room environment to safely recover physically damaged disks.

Human Errors

Whether accidental or malicious, data loss from reformatting, reloading or overwriting volumes can occur in organizations of any size. However, with Tekniknokta's knowledge and expertise, we have recovery experience in many human errors; the final result is determined after analysis.

Cyber Attacks

Whether conducted through computer information systems, computer networks, infrastructures or personal computer devices, unwanted attempts to steal, disclose, modify and/or destroy sensitive information through data breaches and cyber attacks cause significant data loss. Tekniknokta has the tools and expertise needed to safely recover your data from a malicious cyber attack.

Ransomware Attacks

Malicious software that encrypts the victim's files, ransomware attacks prevent a person from accessing their computer or any data stored on the computer. Such an attack can cause the computer itself to lock or the data on it to be stolen, deleted or encrypted. Tekniknokta expert data recovery engineers can recover data from a ransomware attack. In ransomware attack cases, recoverability depends on the encryption type and key; status assessment is made in analysis.

What should be done when a RAID array problem occurs?

Answer the following questions before doing anything:

  • What exactly happened/how did the incident develop?
  • What data was lost?
  • How critical/valuable is this data?
  • Do I have a backup or another way to recover this data?
  • What are the financial consequences of this data loss?

The answers to these questions will be very important to determine the next data recovery steps.

Usually you only have one chance to restore the system to working condition and recover stored data, so it is important to gather as much information as possible.

RAID Recovery Tips

  • Never replace a failed hard disk with a disk that was previously part of a RAID system; make sure you completely erase the backup disk before using it.
  • If a drive makes unusual mechanical noises, shut it down immediately and get support.
  • Take a bit image of hard disks before making any changes to hardware or software or performing a RAID "rebuilding" operation.
  • Label disks with their positions in a RAID array.
  • Do not run recovery programs on "suspected" volumes. Volume repair tools such as CHKDSK are designed to force file systems into a consistent state. This can be useful for a single-disk system with simple errors. In a RAID system, a volume's inconsistency can usually be traced back to RAID-related problems (i.e., unsynchronized disks, failed reconstruction, etc.). Using CHKDSK in such scenarios can cause harmful and irreversible changes to the file system.
  • Do not run defragmentation programs on disks suspected of being faulty.
  • In case of a power outage in a RAID array, do not run recovery programs when the file system appears "suspect" or cannot be "mounted" or when data cannot be accessed after power returns.
