PIWIPE is the certified data erasure software we built for enterprises, ITADs and government bodies. It erases data on computers, servers, phones and every type of drive beyond recovery, and issues a verifiable certificate for each successful job.

Because the device stays usable, there is no need for physical destruction in resale, return, end-of-lease and hand-over processes.

How it works

  • Connect the deviceA drive, phone or server is connected; model, serial number and capacity are read automatically.
  • Pick a standardNIST SP 800-88, DoD 5220.22-M or hardware-level Sanitize; the estimated time appears on screen.
  • Wipe and verifyHidden areas are removed, the wipe runs, and the result is read back and verified.
  • CertificateA successful job produces a PDF certificate with a QR code and SHA-256 digest, synced to the cloud.

    Bootable Linux edition for machines with no operating system and for the system drive Windows cannot erase.

Certificates and verification

Every successful wipe produces a PDF certificate carrying a unique serial number, a QR code and a SHA-256 digest. An optional PKCS#7 signature can be added.

Certificates sync to the cloud console and can be verified at cloud.piwipe.com/v without logging in, for at least six years — so the customer or auditor you send it to can check it themselves.

A failed wipe produces no certificate; instead a sanitization failure report recommending physical destruction is issued. Devices with a Knox/MDM or iCloud lock receive a pre-delivery record rather than a certificate.

Erasure standards

Sixteen standards are supported: NIST SP 800-88 Rev.2, DoD 5220.22-M, IEEE 2883-2022, HMG IS5, German BSI (GS/GSE/2011-VS), VSITR, Gutmann, Schneier, AFSSI-5020, NAVSO P-5239-26, CSEC ITSG-06, CESG CPA and others. Fast Wipe and hardware-level NVMe Sanitize are also available.

Key features

  • Drive health and media grade

    S.M.A.R.T. data is read before the wipe and the drive gets a media grade from A to D, which can drive resale valuation.

  • Parts verification

    Model, serial number and capacity are checked. On iPhones, battery, screen and cameras are reported as original or replaced.

  • Cloud console

    A free web panel for users, licences and reports, with bulk certificate downloads.

  • ITAD tools

    Bulk device registration by CSV, a Disk Explorer for raw sector checks, and QR label printing.

  • Lock detection

    Knox/MDM and iCloud locked devices are flagged, so no false "wiped" record is created.

  • Enterprise deployment

    EV code-signed installer and FTP/SFTP certificate archiving.

Compliance and licensing

The software works in line with GDPR, Turkish Law No. 6698 (KVKK), HIPAA and DWP SS-036. The certificates and reports it produces can be used directly as evidence for periodic destruction obligations and internal audits. We use the same software in our own secure data erasure service.

Licensing works on a per-device credit: each successful wipe consumes one credit, while failed or cancelled jobs cost nothing. Credits are shared between the Windows and USB editions.
